MedGenome Inc. is a genomics-based diagnostics and research company delivering the best of health care by decoding genetic information contained in an individual’s genome. MedGenome was incubated for 2 years as a division of SciGenom Labs, Cochin, India. It was spun off as a separate company with headquarters in Narayana Health City, Bangalore in 2013. MedGenome’s core lab of 10,000 sq. ft. is based at Narayana Health City, Bangalore in the 3rd floor of Narayana Nethralaya building. MedGenome has a second lab of 5000 sq. ft. at the Special Economic Zone, in Kakanad, Cochin. MedGenome’s core strength is its multi-faceted team spread across the country, facilitating its pan India operations.
Job Description
Role: Bioinformatics Developer
Location: Bangalore (relocation assistance available)
Job responsibilities include but not restricted to
- Develop new tools and databases for Bioinformatics data analysis
- Improve existing pipelines and tools in collaboration with the team
- Test new and exciting Bioinformatics tools and databases
Desired experience and expertise:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in the area of computer-science/informatics/Computational Genomics/Computation Biology/Bioinformatics/Statistics
- Sound knowledge of programming languages such as Perl, Php, Python, R, Java, Html, SQL, C++ a must. Candidates with no programming knowledge need not apply
- Aptitude for genomics and molecular biology. Passionate about making an impact in the future of healthcare
- Knowledge in statistical analysis and Bioinformatics methods/tools is a plus
- Prior knowledge/experience in developing Bioinformatics tools/database is a plus
- Excellent problem solving skills
- 1-3 years of academics/industry experience
You will also be expected to have:
- Excellent communication, written and presentation skills
- "Roll-up-your-sleeves" entrepreneurial, start-up attitude
- The ability to work across teams and functions effectively
